Historical Romance Club is always looking for dedicated Reviewers of Historical Romance, and the various sub-genres supported on the HRC website (fantasy, paranormal, time-travel, etc. - click here for a complete list).
If you've been hankering to review romance books, and feel you have the required talent, please read on. IMPORTANT NOTE: you must be at least 18 years old.
Currently we are seeking reviewers of Western Romance (contemporary or historical). And we're always seeking reviewers of Historical, Fantasy, Paranormal, and Time Travel Romance.
Becoming a Reviewer for HRC can be a rewarding experience, and especially if you love the genres supported on our website. Please read the following Guidelinesbefore you submit your application.
Guidelines (please read all)
Three basic requirements: You must be at least 18 years of age, you must be fluent in the English language, and you must be willing to read expicit sex scenes.
Applicants start on a trial basis. It's only natural - not everyone is suited to be a reviewer, nor will every applicant fit into the HRC Reviewer Program. We reserve the right to reject applicants, at our discretion.
Participation is strictly on a volunteer basis, i.e., you will not be paid for reviewing a book. However, eBooks sent to you for review are yours to keep (for personal use only - you cannot sell, or redistribute them to others).
Initially, you will receive eBooks (PDF files). So a computer and Internet access are mandatory. Acrobat Reader (standard on most computers) is required to read the eBooks (a free download is available if this program is missing from your computer). Later, if you stick around long enough, and provide quality reviews, on a regular basis, you might receive printed books to review (USA and Canada only - sorry, we can't afford the postage for outside North America). Again, they will be yours to keep.
HRC does not review books rated at less than 2 Stars. Life is too short to waste time reading and reviewing a book you don't like. Reviewers can refuse to read/review any book, at their discretion.
Once submitted, reviews become the property of HRC. Reviews will be edited for spelling, grammar, length, and general content, before they are published on the HRC website - at the discretion of the Review Coordinator, or the Editor. If you have a problem with someone editing your work, please do not apply.
Part of the application process is the submission (via the form below) of a minimum 200 word review of a romance novel that you have recently read. Genre is unimportant at this point. Submitted review will be assessed for grammar, punctuation, and over-all composition. Begin by writing a brief outline of the story, characters, etc. Then give your opinion and rating (see current reviews for examples).
