New to the live chat environment? Nervous about the “live” aspect? Not to worry - everyone else was too, the first time, and they all made it through just fine. The main advantage is our ever-present chat moderator.

She'll be with you all the way, acting as your guide throughout the process. Once we've confirmed your date and time, she'll send you a list of suggestions and pre-chat activities to help make your chat a complete success.

On the day of the chat she'll be there, in the chat room, making certain the experience is a pleasant one. She has complete control over the chat environment, and won't hesitate to remove any troublemakers that might show up. She'll also help the conversation along if visitors are too nervous to talk.

For the duration of the chat, you can think of her as your assistant, friend, and bodyguard.


PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING (before you request a chat date):

  • Chats normally start at 9pm Eastern (6pm Pacific, 7pm Mountain, 8pm Central).
  • Alternate start times are available - please specify in the Comments box.
  • No chats on Wednesdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
  • No chats on May 7 & 22, Sept 5, Oct 31, Dec 20 to 31 inclusive, & Jan 1.
  • Participating Authors should be published in an HRC-supported Genre (?).
  • It is recommended that Authors offer a prize(s) during the chat (books, etc.).
  • Not allowed: Inspirational (religious values) & Alternate Lifestyles (m/m, f/f, trans-gender, etc.).
  • Authors who reserve and complete a Live Chat, receive a gift from HRC Staff.
  • Chats are moderated by an HRC staff member.
