†and published primarily in a Genre supported on HRC (see list below).
Self-published Authors should look elsewhere for support...
At present, HRC's mandate does not allow for self-published Authors in the membership. This includes those signed with “vanity” and “subsidy” presses. HRC Author Membership Rates For 2009:
$20.00 USD for 4 months (standard rate)$25.00 USD for 6 months (better rate - 1 month free)
$45.00 USD for 12 months (best rate - 3 months free)
READ THE FINE PRINT: 4 months minimum membership required. Requests for membership must be approved by HRC staff. HRC does not accept applications from self-published authors. RWA Members in good standing receive 10% off the posted rates when they use the special RWA application form. Membership continues until renewal dues remain unpaid for 30 days, at which time the membership is surrendered back to HRC. Surrendered membership will then be offered on a first come, first served basis, at the standard rates in effect at the time of surrender. Memberships are nontransferable.
