Adora is a widow, and a healer, who still grieves for the children who were taken from her when they were little, leaving her with only one child---her daughter, Belora. But now that Belora has been mated with her dragon warriors, Adora has been left alone to practice her healing arts in the privacy of the woods. Suddenly she is set upon by Skiths, horrible snake like beasts, determined to destory everything in their path. Desperate to escape, she mentally calls for Lady Kelzy---her surrogate dragon mother---to help her.

Dragon Knight, Jared, long ago hardened his heart when his wife and daughter were killed while he was on mission for the former king. Partnered with the dragon, Lady Kelzy, he flies to rescue Adora, combating the Skiths and liberating her from the treetops. But when Adora is injured and he's forced to care for her, he suddenly finds himself drawn to her, and mayhap even loves her---but when he discovers Adora has feelings for an old friend of his, he becomes unsettled.

Weary of King Lucan devastating his own people, Skithdron Lord, Darian, heads out to Dracoina to caution them of the impending menace. A former diplomat for Draconia, he prays he makes it over the border without being excuted for a being a traitor. Danger lurks everywhere, and when Darian finds his long time comrade, Jared, he gladly accepts his invitaion to rest in his lair, where he meets the lovely healer, Adora. Though he finds himself intensely drawn to her, he comes to realize Jared too has feelings for the woman---leaving him to wonder if his own love is strong enough.

When Prince Nico visits Jared's lair, Adora discovers some interesting facts about her past and her future. As the war between the Skiths and the Dragons escilates, Darian reveals some important information which which causes the dragons and their knights to revise their tactics. But when Darian and Jared team up to defeat a foe in a battle of strength and skill, Adora comes to realize she's fallen in love with both men. Lady Kelzy encourages Adora to mate with both warriors, which takes her on a sexual exploration beyond her wildest notions.

I found myself drawn to Adora's character and wanted to know more and more about her past. Jared and Darian were a plus, and adding Adora strength and wisdom gave the story an added mix that was pleasant to read. Bianca's writing flowed very well and the sexual tension made you want more from each character. The love scenes in the novel did nothing to draw away from the book, but if anything, added to the story. I found Border Lair wonderfully descriptive and sensual, and the characters strong and well thought out.
